Mandy Stokes - Professional Journey

My Professional Journey

I am a registered social worker and addictions counsellor working with adults, adolescents, and the loved ones of those navigating addiction and self-destructive behaviours.

My professional path has been shaped by both lived experience and formal training. I struggled with substance use in my younger years and found recovery at 28. Rebuilding my life sparked a deep commitment to understanding addiction and the emotional patterns that keep people feeling stuck.

Recovery is an ongoing process. Over the years, I have continued to seek support during challenging seasons, including the loss of my mother. These experiences have deepened my empathy for those navigating grief, transition, and vulnerability.

"I believe healing begins with compassion, not shame. I believe asking for help is a sign of strength. And I believe meaningful change becomes possible when we are willing to face what feels uncomfortable while also caring for ourselves in the process."
